A website that provides car insurance rates has conducted a survey of which U.S. states have the safest and most dangerous roadways. The results are not good for Missouri residents; the study claims that drivers in the state are the second-worst in the country.
The website collected data on car accident fatalities, tickets for traffic violations, drunk driving and what the man who runs the website calls "careless driving." Sources included the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the American Motorists Association. Based on the website's compiled figures, Missouri is the second-most dangerous state in which to drive, beating only Louisiana.
Being Kansas City lawyers, essentially residing on or near the state line, we can say that driving in Missouri is demonstrably worse. Vehicular incompetence is the worst we have seen in our lifetimes. We recommend that Missouri drivers familiarize themselves with not only the traffic laws, but also longstanding customs for careful, prudent and considerate driving. Be safe out there.
